For the second time, National Carpenters Day 2010 celebrates the essential work carpenters contribute to our communities.

But, it's not only this (and their great Aussie "mateship") we need to thank our carpenters for...

Carpenters lock away thousands of tonnes of carbon from our atmosphere each year, helping to reduce the effects of climate change.

This is because wood and timber products are the only major building material to naturally store carbon – making wood one of the most sustainable building materials on the planet!

Show your local carpenters how much you appreciate their work by spreading the word about National Carpenters Day, because every carpenter needs to know it's their day!

For our part, we are putting on good old fashioned afternoon barbies at selected locations around the country for carpenters to enjoy after a hard day's work.

National Carpenters Day 2010 will also incorporate the second annual Australian Carpenter of the Year Awards which seeks out the best in the trade, in a number of categories and the Australian Carpenter competition.
